Andhra Association, Pune

The Andhra High school is an English Medium high school affialiated to the Maharastra Higher Secondary board. The school runs classes from KG to 10th standard.

It had its beginnings as a single Montessori school which was started in the 1960's by the association. This school gradually developed into an English Medium Primary school and was recognized by the Pune Municipal Corporation in 1971. The school had classes from Junior KG to the VII standard. It developed from there during the years 1971 to 1980.

In the early eighties efforts were started to raise the school to High School level. These efforts fructified and in 1987, it attained the status of an English Medium High School following the state syllabus and was recognized by the Government of Maharashtra. The first batch of students of this school appeared for the SSC examination in March 1988. During the years 1988 to 1994, students of this school etched their names in the SSC merit list.

Aided by a charitable program of `Bharata Natyam Dance' by Smt. Hema Malini and help from certain financial institutions, the present building was constructed to create adequate facilities for the school to be run in a single shift.

The school runs classes from Junior KG to 10th standard. Admission to the school is open to all without reference to caste, creed or community, religion or language. Comprehensive computer education is being provided right from the 1st to the 10th standard. There is a provision for teaching Telugu in the high school.

The school is headed by a Principal and the day to day management of the school is looked after by a School committee on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Andhra Association.
